Founder Story
Faith Supeet, founder of Beyond Cultural Limits Foundation, focuses on creating resilient and sustainable livelihoods within the Maasai community. Through her leadership, the foundation has developed projects that have brought meaningful positive change to the community.
Faith’s journey began in Tikoishi village. After overcoming harmful cultural practices and poverty, she turned her lived experience into a movement that uplifts women, children, and families.
My name is Faith Katita Supeet and I come from the Maasai village of Tikoishi in Kenya. At just 15 years old, I escaped the harmful practice of Female Genital Mutilation. That decision marked a turning point in my life. I ran away not from my culture but towards a better future, for myself and for the generations to come.
My father gave me the rare chance to go to school, and it changed everything. That same year, I began to speak up. I started advocating for young girls’ rights, raising awareness about the effects of FGM, and encouraging education.
Then came the drought. Three long years of devastating drought wiped out our livestock, our main source of livelihood. Hunger spread. Children’s lives were at risk. Schools saw massive dropouts due to poverty and food insecurity. This is when Beyond Cultural Limits Foundation was born.
